Beware: Some Work at Home jobs appear to be nothing more than pyramid marketing
Question: The Standing Committee for Academic Research and Issuing Fatwas has received
many questions about pyramid marketing companies such as the "Business" and
"Hibbat al-Jazeerah" companies, whose work may be summed up as being the attempt
to convince a person to buy a product on the basis that he will also convince
others to buy; they in turn will convince others, and so on. The more levels of
participants there are, the more the first person will gain in commission,
reaching thousands of riyals. Every participant convinces others to join in
return for a large commission, if he is successful in getting new customers to
join his list of members.
This is what is called pyramid marketing or network marketing.

From Forty Ahadeeth pocketsize
On the authority of Abu Huraira, May Allah have Mercy on him, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
Allah, the Exalted is good and accepts only that which is good. Allah has commanded the believers to do that which He commanded the Messengers, and the Exalted has said: "O (you) Messenger! Eat of the lawful things, and do righteous deeds." (al-Mu'minun, 51) and Allah the Exalted has said: "O you who believe! Eat of the lawful things wherewith We have provided you." (al-Baqarah, 172)
Then he mentioned [the case of] a man who, having journeyed far, is dishevelled and dusty and who spreads out his hands to the sky [saying]: O Rubb! O Rubb! - while his food is unlawful, his drink is unlawful, his clothing unlawful, and he is nouished unlawfully, so how can his invocation be accepted.
